Ginger and Lime

‘The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where we come to regroup, gather our thoughts and rejuvenate both our body and our minds. It is the coming together of people, building relationships and discovering common interests. It is also about the very important gift of our own time, spent with others.’
We always cook with wine, sometimes we even add it to the food.

Ginger and Lime

This is the philosophy of Denise Levy, owner of the interactive kitchen, Ginger and Lime. Here, she invites guests to come and cook, learn, experience and share stories around her stove. For those wanting to learn, Denise and her team of kitchen fairies are on hand to assist, teach and guide. For those that want to sit back, take in the action and enjoy a good glass of wine are also encouraged to do so.

It was with much excitement and anticipation that I arrived on Thursday evening for her ‘Simply Italian’ class with special guest André Scriven, senior winemaker at Rooiberg wines.
Andre made sure our glasses were full whilst we cooked, chatted, laughed and made new friends during the course of the evening.
The wines he had selected paired extremely well with the dishes. There was much excitement around the kitchen as my fellow students and I kept discovering new flavour combinations. It was definitely an experience I won’t soon forget. Having arrived a stranger, I left a friend. I am looking forward to my next visit.
A special thank you to both Denise and André for this unforgettable evening.
