Lapo's KitchenThere is something quite special about enjoying a traditional home-cooked meal, in someone else’s home, especially when that person is as passionate as chef Lapo Magni. All the way from the Tuscan sunshine, this talented chef has brought his Mama’s treasured recipes to South Africa. His passion extends beyond his Italian roots to include fresh seasonal, sustainable and ethical produce. This passion and quality are mirrored in his exceptional dishes.

From the moment you walk through Lapo’s front door, you immediately feel right at home. This unique dining concept encourages guests to make new friends over great conversation, fantastic wine and Italian comfort food that really soothes the soul. It also allows interaction with Lapo whilst he is cooking and preparing the dishes. The menu is a surprise, revealed only as each course is ready to serve. Before guest tuck in, however, Lapo talks through the dish listing ingredients, cooking methods and special additions that bring the plate to life. It is clear that he has personal relationships with all of his suppliers and brings those values to the table.

Whilst the meal and spring water is included in the cost of the evening, guests are invited (and encouraged) to bring their own wine. Lapo’s sidekick Michelle will email wine pairing suggestions the day before so that you have plenty of time to select the right bottle/s.

Here is a little visual journey of our evening:
