I am all about a good after work drink, even better when it involves some kind of bar snack or tapas. So when I heard about The Black Sheep’s new little sister restaurant, The Dark Horse, I was first in line to give it a try. Cape Town is full of little hidden gems but this spot has taken the cake! From the mirror on the ceiling to the oversized vintage couches and little trinkets and interesting pictures on the wall, visitors will really appreciate the eclectic decor.

The cocktail menu is extensive with everyone’s favourites on the list. From a good old fashioned to gin fizz and classic daiquiris and martinis, you’ll be hard pressed to make a choice. I chose a margarita and happy to say it was hands down one of the best I had tasted outside of Mexico!

On the food side, they serve classic comfort food (as well as some more adventurous dishes) on small plates tapas style, perfect for sharing. The ingredients are sourced locally, with a strong emphasis on sustainable, ethically farmed foodstuffs. I recommend you try everything!

The cherry on top for me was the incredible view of Table Mountain from the balcony. Whether you are a visitor to Cape Town, or a local looking for a new favourite hang out, The Dark Horse is worth the pilgrimage to Kloof street.
