Your basket – or, in this case, apple box, as the estate is one of the country’s foremost apple producers – is packed with all of the delicious elements you’d expect from a gourmet picnic… and then some! Think local cheeses and artisan charcuterie, SALT’s famous Tomato Salad with Wasabi Cream Cheese and Basil Pesto and fall-apart Pulled Smoked Lamb Shoulder with Rosemary and Garlic Flat Bread. The Rainbow Carrot Salad with Harissa Dressing adds beautiful bursts of colour and freshness, and a selection of olives, homemade Cumin Onion Marmalade and Chicken Liver Pâté round off the picnic feast. Finally, SALT’s irresistible Banana Rumbaba with Crème Pat Muesli Crumble and Poached Fruit guarantees the perfect sweet finish!
Each picnic serves two and costs R450, which includes a bottle of still or sparkling mineral water. Or, opt to include a bottle of crisp Paul Cluver Sauvignon Blanc at R550 per picnic.
